Real-time classes
Support » Glossary » E
Class 1 includes all facilities and systems where relatively slow time uncritical processes run that manage with reaction times roughly between 0, 1 and 10 s in regard to the integrated communication systems...
Class 2 refers to a dynamically relatively undemanding application environment where reaction times of between 1 to 500 ms are adequate.
Class 3 concerns dynamically exacting devices and systems such as robots and CNC machines that require reaction times of approx. 50 µs to 20 ms for the communication technology.
Class 4 focuses on highly dynamic facilities and systems whose smooth operation requires reaction times for the communication network that are significantly less than 1 ms.
