Support » Glossary » D

These are three-phase AC asynchronous motors with cage rotors that are designed for continuous standstill operation. That is to say, they are thermally rated in such a way that they can remain permanently active with static shaft below nominal voltage and develop their greatest torque at the same time.

The current recorded at a standstill is specified as nominal motor current. The torque even changes quadratically with the applied support voltage and can be suitably adapted to special requirements by voltage adjustment. Applications are positioning drives, winder drives, automatic door drives, barrier drives and many others that carry out only angular movements or are operated at very low speeds.
