Sequential controls

FAQs

Support » Glossary » A

In sequential controls the control process is subdivided into individual steps that are processed one after the other according to a plan/program stored in the control device.

Commands are assigned to the individual steps that are output to the control object by the control device either as time-dependent or process state-dependent if the specified time conditions for a step are fulfilled for the given situation or agreed events in the process area have occurred. A difference is made between time-oriented or process-oriented sequential controls on the basis of this information.

Time-oriented sequential controls are deployed where it is safe to assume that the processes in the controlled object always run according to the same time function. Process-oriented sequential controls enable a certain adjustment of the program flow due to their operating principle.
