All users who are looking for a favorably priced and compact microstep final output stage as well as a flexible and easy to operate positioning control will now find these requirements combined in an extremely compact housing (105 x 83 x 25 mm).
The adjustable microstep control from 200 to 25,600 steps/revolution enables quiet, uniform running behavior, reduces system resonances and increases the resolution and the interchangeability to 3-phase and 5-phase motors at the same time. A phase current of 8 A phase and a voltage of 21-48 V enables speeds of more than 3000 rpm to be reached. The associated programming software even enables users without programming knowledge to quickly and easily program complex travel profiles (parameters such as current values and step resolution as well as distance, speed, ramp, pauses and grinding, 16 records in total) and then to transmit them to the SMCI47-2 over the RS485 interface. A variant with CANopen and 24 V wide input range inputs is available from October 2008.
The system can then be started either in automatic mode from the PC or in standalone mode with an external signal. Alternatively, all commands can of course be operated via the well documented ASCII code, where even multiple axle applications are possible via the smallest PLC.
The “Reference Run" input offers an automatic machine setting and, thus, considerably simplifies and reduces commissioning times. The encoder input detects any motor blockage or step error and, depending on the settings, can also automatically correct them.
Thus, not only does the SMCI47-2 offer designers an ultra compact, economic and highly efficient PWM MOSFET final output stage with considerably reduced assembly and wiring costs, but also supports the machine fitter in machine optimization through the simple, fast and flexible programming of even complex motion sequences.
