Usually the chain wheel is only used where high forces and powers are required. Chain wheels with or without hub, fastening borehole and keyway are available in the sizes 6 and 8 mm as well as 1/8", 1/4" and 5/8" divisions to DIN 8187 and DIN 8188 with a wide variety of numbers of teeth.

Due to the high radial bearing forces, additional external flanges in round or angular shaped version (with or without collar) with integrated ball bearing are recommended.
