Longer shaft

Longer motor shafts are required when the flange or type of mounting mean direct attachment is not possible.

This machining is possible in all motors of the ST and DB series as well as the protection class and Plug & Drive motors from an order quantity of 100 pieces, but only from an order quantity of 1000 pieces in the SP series.

In the case of longer shafts it is imperative to pay attention to the admissible radial force of the motors. If the admissible bearing load and expected service life is exceeded, a second thrust bearing must be provided.

Design notes

Especially in applications with longer transport or distributor rollers, pumps with several pump heads or, generally, when the mounting of several drive elements is necessary, motors with longer shafts are used in preference.
Also in dispensing, mixing and in application systems such as spray and adhesive applications (including the plasma field), special solutions with a longer output shaft are used in preference.

If a second thrust bearing is planned for reasons of the admissible radial force, it is imperative that this is mounted concentrically to the motor shaft.
For this purpose, we can recommend appropriate shaft supports or shaft holders in a T or L profile with centering collar (alternatively also with integrated ball bearing) in order to realize the additional radial force support.
