Nanotec launches new L20 miniature linear actuator
Feldkirchen, 25 August 2011 – The increasing demand for small, compact yet powerful linear drive units is being met by Nanotec Electronic GmbH & Co. KG with the new L20 linear actuator. What is currently the smallest model in the extensive product portfolio from the renowned step motor manufacturer, in common with the larger motors in the range, combines a threaded bush made from the high performance plasticpolyetheretherketon and a high-torque motor. The L20 will be available at Compamed 2011 or SPS 2011, if not before.
In particular in medical technology, the semiconductor industry, for compound tables or other applications that require regulating, levelling, dosing, adjusting or raising and drawing functions, engineers are demanding more powerful linear drives with longer service life durations in a compact model. This is why Nanotec Electronic GmbH, following the successful market launch of the L28, is now releasing the L20 model which has a size of 20 mm. In common with all linear actuators from Nanotec, it offers extremely short regulation times as well as high lateral and tensile forces. The L20 achieves a feed speed of up to 40 mm/sec., and the thrust is up to 40 N. All linear actuators are manufactured by Nanotec in line with German quality standards at the company's own production plant in China.
Nanotec is once again using the high quality, high load capacity threaded bush made from thermoplastic high-performance plastic (PEEK) in the L20. These parts are exceptionally low-friction, which has a positive effect on the sliding capacity and extends the service life of the motor significantly. "Thermoplastic nuts have a very high capacity for thermal and mechanical loading and are therefore suitable for most applications. Other outstanding features are their long service life and low maintenance requirements, not least as no lubrication is required", explains Nanotec Managing Director Stephan Huber as to the reasons why the company now uses plastic nuts exclusively.
Spindle pitches of up to 1 mm are possible with the L20 linear actuators. Corresponding stainless steel lead screws are available in various lengths. The axial play of the shaft can be easily set using an adjusting nut on the front bearing flange. The standard resolution is 0.005 mm, and even lower resolutions down to 0.001 are possible together with a closed loop-compatible control and an encoder. All Nanotec linear actuators are inter-compatible and can be combined in a solution.
